CoPilot Automatic Alert System FAQ

Infant Car Seat Safety Alert System - How it Works and Why You Need One

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does the System Work?

The CoPilot Automatic Alert System uses Radio Frequency (RF) to transmit a signal that triggers the alarm sound within the key fob.

Car Seat CoPilot features a car seat clip sensor that attaches to the straps of your existing car seat, that once connected and secured, communicates with a key fob that set off an alarm in less than a minute when you walk away with your child still inside a closed vehicle.

Does CoPilot require Bluetooth or any other kind of connection?

No. CoPilot serves as an extra level of security, with core technologies that do not rely on Bluetooth, WiFi connectivity or a smartphone app, indicating that the products should work at all times.

Does the CoPilot Automatic Alert System use an App for a smartphone or tablet?

No, this product does not depend on any App or cell phone coverage for alerting a parent or caregiver that a child is still in the car seat.

What age of child is appropriate for the CoPilot Automatic Alert System?

The system is intended for use on an infant/toddler car seat up to the age when a child can possibly unbuckle the car seat on his/her own. Always ensure that children are properly restrained and  consult your car seat manual for more information.

Where should the CoPilot Seatbelt Clip be installed on an infant/toddler car seat?

Position Car Seatbelt Clip Sensor below car seat buckle and always remember to secure BOTH the car seat buckle and the Car Seatbelt Clip. Make sure LOCK HOOK clicks in place every time.

How will I know the system is working?

ProximitySensor Technology is a simple solution that sends a Radio Frequency (RF) signal from a sensor to a receiver. This technology is embedded in the CoPilot Seat Belt Clip installed as a secondary buckle to an existing infant car seat, and it communicates with a receiver integrated in the key fob. When the continuous signal between the sensor and receiver is broken, the audible alarm within the key fob is triggered.

What if the Seatbelt Clip Sensor does not signal the Key Fob to beep when tested?

If unable to pair the seatbelt clip sensor to the alarm on the key fob, it may require an additional charge. Press the STOP button on the key fob and continue to hold it while plugging in the Micro USB/USB cable into a power charger. Keep holding until you hear a beep, then release the STOP button.  Wait 2 second and press STOP again 2 times quickly, then press and hold again longer until the key fob beeps to indicate it has successfully paired.

Can I leave the CoPilot Seatbelt Clip on the car seat even when my baby is not in it?

Yes, the CoPilot Automatic Alert System is intended to remain installed on the infant/toddler car seat straps.  Once your child is removed from it, the Seatbelt clip is unhooked and will not communicate a signal to the key fob alarm.

How will I know when it is time to recharge the battery on the Seatbelt Clip and/or Key Fobs?

A red LED indicator will flash every 2 seconds on the clip sensor, or on a key fob to indicate that component needs to have its battery recharged.  It is recommended to keep 1 of 2 key fobs charged at all times.

How do you recharge the built-in battery on the Seatbelt Clip and Key Fob?

Both components have a micro USB port and the system comes with (2) micro USB cables. If your vehicle has a USB charging port, simply connect to it while vehicle is in use, or you can detach the seatbelt clip and charge it and the key fobs using a USB universal wall adapter (not included with system) to recharge in your home.

Can the Car seat CoPilot Automatic Alert System be used as an extra strap/seatbelt?

Car Seat CoPilot Automatic Alert System is meant to be used as a car seat alarm accessory.  It attaches just below the chest strap buckle intended to restrain a child, it does not replace the existing safety buckly.
